The object of the Awards is to encourage the writing, reading and publishing of books about the Isle of Wight; to draw attention to the beauty and glories and heritage of the Isle of Wight; to reward and praise authors, many of whom will perhaps never have produced a book before.
MISSION STATEMENT - by founder Hunter Davies
No mission statement-just that this is meant to be an amusing, interesting, uplifting, encouraging project to help put the island on the national map, to encourage people on the island to write their own books, and possibly self publish them, and to recognise their efforts and reward them, in some small if rather humble way...

This year's chosen charity is IW Youth Trust
The Isle of Wight Youth Trust is a local charity that provides free, confidential mental‑health and wellbeing support for children and young people on the Isle of Wight.
It offers professional counselling, wellbeing support, and therapeutic services for young people up to early adulthood.
The charity also provides programmes in schools, early‑intervention services, and workshops to help build resilience and emotional literacy.
Parents and carers can access guidance and support, and the Trust often works with schools, health services, and community groups.
Its mission focuses on improving mental health outcomes, reducing stigma, and giving young people a safe place to talk.
